Welcome and thank you for choosing to take ‘this moment’ to browse my website. In the busyness of our lives we tend to get swept along at a fast, sometimes frantic pace – without really experiencing our life’s journey as it is actually happening. A lot of the time we run on ‘automatic pilot’ without much awareness of what we are doing. We get preoccupied with thinking ahead and going back over things from the past, in effect missing the ‘just now’ – the ‘present’, the only time we really have. How often does it dawn on us that we are missing precious moments of our lives, being distracted and not being really present, for example, at a family event, having a coffee with a friend, on a holiday or when out walking?

Jon Kabat-Zinn tells us that ‘direct experiencing is nothing less than the great adventure of your life unfolding moment by moment, starting now, where you already are, wherever that is’, however good or challenging your situation. (Full Catastrophe Living p.xxviii),

In practising Mindfulness, we learn to purposefully bring our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with an attitude of curiosity and non-judging.

Mindfulness gifts us powerful informal and formal practices that are easy and flexible enough to incorporate into even the busiest of lives – so we can reclaim ‘the present’ and essentially show up to our lives. Research internationally has proven that mindfulness helps to reduce stress, anxiety, exhaustion and increase clarity of thinking, improve our relationship with ourselves and others, our performance at work and in sports, music and other hobbies, our physical and mental health and our overall wellbeing.
