.b (‘dot be’)Mindfulness Curriculum for Young People, ages 11-18
It is ideally suited to Transition Year Programmes, the mission statement of which is ‘to promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of pupils and to prepare them for their role as autonomous, participative and responsible members of society.’ However, it is also suitable for all year groups, covering concepts of the SPHE and CSPE Curricula and also works well as a lunch time course. This course works equally well in mainstream classes and special needs contexts, where the special needs are in the areas of emotional and behavioural disorders.
School Completion Programmes, which aim ‘to have a positive impact on retention for young people at risk of early school leaving…. achieved in a number of ways utilising a range of innovative, creative as well as tried and tested interventions’ may consider including the .b curriculum as an innovative, evidence-based intervention for the children and young people involved in SCPs.
The course is generally taught in a regular classroom. Alternatives e.g. Library are also suitable
Competitive rates are available for schools who book more than one course.
Course participants receive a certificate of course completion
Follow-On Mindfulness Club
Ena also offers a mindfulness club for students who have experienced the .b programme. Students can find it difficult to maintain regular mindfulness practice on their own and therefore welcome opportunities to practice together in school at lunchtime or before/after school.
